FRENCH FIGHT TERRORIST TYRANNY In Algeria today, across the fertile valleys and into the mountains, the French Army is fighting a difficult and tedious kind of warfare against Algerian guerrillas, rebels who have no fixed battle lines, no rules of warfare other than terror, ambush, arson and death. The Algerian rebels, called fellaghas, fight mostly against their fellow co religionists, other moslems. Eight out of ten people killed by the rebels are Moslems, not Europeans. The rebels use other terrorist methods, too. Threatening letters are sent to Moslems considered too friendly with the French. Threats of reprisals are made against a man, his home, his business, his family. To counteract this terror, the French Army has 400,000 men in Algeria today. Their job is to flush all this out.
